Programs & Faith Formation

Faith formation embraces the idea of lifelong spiritual growth. Wherever you are on your faith journey, you are welcome to explore faith-based and socially relevant topics with us.

Youth Group

This is a program available to young people from grade 6 and up.

We are currently planning events for a Youth Group. Typically, Youth (Grade 6-10) would meet on selected dates throughout the year, usually Sunday evenings, with our Youth Leader Ann Ward. This is a great opportunity for tweens and teens to build relationships while discussing Faith and Social Justice issues. During get togethers, Youth participate in team building games and activities. In recent years, Youth have frequently gathered for campfires and even sleepovers at Melville!

Thyme with God - In the Garden

Since 2012, we have marked 13 growing seasons of providing weekly harvest deliveries to the Centre Wellington Food Bank. In 2025, we were pleased to accept a community appreciation award on behalf of Melville United Church.

With the increased demand on food banks, we are always looking for ways to increase our harvest. We welcome you to join us weekly for conversation, watering and just a little bit of weeding during the growing season.

Come and see us in the garden!

United Church Women

The United Church Women’s mission is to love God; foster Christian commitment, faithfulness, and spirituality; and promote respect and love for all God’s creation.

Any woman “willing to contribute her prayers, gifts, and services for the work of the Church” may join the United Church Women (UCW). United Church Women have been called the “hands and feet” of the church.

Melville U.C.W. devotes time for fellowship and service. We welcome all women of Melville and intentionally support each other and our church. We support some local community events and charities, and we care for Melville and our national church missions through service and donations. We meet for business meetings about three times a year but have ongoing projects. All are welcome!

Presently, our fundraising projects include making and selling our turkey and beef single serving meat pies and catering lunches for gatherings in our Fellowship Hall (for church fellowship, funeral lunches etc.).

Quilters of Melville

Quilters gather each Tuesday at 9:00 AM at Melville United Church in the Heritage Hall to quilt. They have a coffee break at about 10:30 at which time Show and Tell might take place but there is always friendly fellowship. The quilters bring a lunch and eat around noon, then quilt until 2:00 PM.

If you are interested in joining, come anytime. If you wish to learn how to quilt, we are willing to help you. Also, if you wish to just join the group for lunch you are welcome. The quilters supply the tea and coffee.

Friday Morning Coffee Hour

This is a time of fellowship, conversation and refreshment for members of the church community and friends. All are welcome. Coffee hour is held at Melville United Church in the Beatty Parlour between 10:00 and 11:00 AM every Friday.

Melville offers opportunities to participate in informal discussions and book studies. Perhaps you have an idea for a book study or discussion? Let us know.
